Okay, so everyone to #guild-sa at Quakenet
Oh and small howto.
1. You need IRC client. Best option is prolly mIRC (for linux users x-chat)
download mIRC from here: mirc.com/get.html
X-chat can be found from here www.xchat.org/download/
2. Install and open mIRC(this guide goes for mIRC users, if you can install linux you should be able to connect irc too )
- mIRC options screen should pop up, if not press tools -> options
- go to connect interleaf and fill the information needed
3. go to servers interleaf
- press add, you should get screen where it asks description, irc server, port etc.
-Description can be anything, like "Qnet" or "Server to qnet"
-IRCserver should be one of quakenet servers (try one of these)
jubiigames.dk.quakenet.org
tiscali.dk.quakenet.org
mediatraffic.fi.quakenet.org
pelikaista.fi.quakenet.org
euroserv.fr.quakenet.org
splatterworld.de.quakenet.org
sw.de.quakenet.org
ign.ie.quakenet.org
ngi.it.quakenet.org
xs4all.nl.quakenet.org
online.no.quakenet.org
ludd.se.quakenet.org
port80.se.quakenet.org
stockholm.se.quakenet.org
wineasy.se.quakenet.org
b0rk.uk.quakenet.org
blueyonder.uk.quakenet.org
demon.uk.quakenet.org
freddyshouse.uk.quakenet.org
multiplay.uk.quakenet.org
whole.ny.us.quakenet.org
- let the port be 6667
- Group can be anything also, Qnet or Quakenet or something like that is good so you know for what the group is (used for some scripts and options in mIRC)
- leave password empty
- press add
4. you sohuld now press Connect to Server
- if you get connected it should give you flood of server MOTDs etc (message of the day) and then open Channel menu, if this does not happen' or it gives error message, try other server.(repeat the server adding part with other servername)
- press add in the channel menu or close it and write /join #guild-sa, if you pressed add(using this will be useful later on)
- write #guild-sa to channel field
- leave password field empty
- now, you can skip following, press add and go directly to joining, but this will be useful later on.
- network, choose the one you placed to server group while adding server(for example: Qnet)
- tick the "join on connect" now you should join this channel automatically when connecting to servers under for example Qnet group.
5. Joining
- simple, now you have the #guild-sa in your channel list, dbclick it and you should join guild-sa's channel.
- you can also remove those other channels in the list and add some new channels if you find something interresting.
